Ideogram Custom Models

Your custom image model, trained on your brand.

Upload 15–100 images. Train a Custom Model that knows your exact art direction, product geometry, color systems, and design identity. Every new generation carries your brand forward. Comes with legible text, as you'd expect from an Ideogram model.

Start training Available on Team, Pro, and Enterprise plans and via the API.

The problem

A model trained on the internet doesn't know your brand.

Off-the-shelf models are trained on the entire internet: billions of unrelated images blended together. The outputs look almost right but carry no defined aesthetic. When your brand runs through a model built for everyone, it starts to look like it belongs to no one.

A custom model is fine-tuned exclusively on your assets, to learn your style, your visual identity, and your aesthetic choices. Feed the best outputs back into training, and the model evolves as your brand does. Train a different model for every expression of your brand.

Why Ideogram

Your LoRA is only as good as its base model.

Open-source LoRAs are similar in nature to Ideogram Custom Models, but they inherit the limitations of open-source base models. Inconsistent text, generic composition, limited style range. The foundation matters.

Ideogram was started by the researcher behind Google's first text-to-image system. We cracked legible text rendering first. Then character consistency. Now we're solving custom model training on a foundation built for it, already powering enterprise workflows in production.

How it works

Upload. Train. Generate.

No infrastructure to manage. No GPU provisioning. You bring the images. Ideogram builds the model.

01
Upload images

Select the Models tab from the navigation bar. Click + to create a new model. Upload 15 to 100 images of your brand, subject, or style.

Upload images
02
Train your model

We auto-generate captions for your images. Review and refine them, then kick off training. Quality matters more than quantity.

Generate at scale

Select your Custom Model and start prompting. Stack Style References and Color Palettes for full brand control.

Generate at scale

API support

Train and generate programmatically.

Create datasets, upload training images, kick off model training, and generate at scale. All from your own infrastructure, no UI required.

01 Create a dataset and upload 10–100 images
02 Start training with a single POST request
03 Generate images using your custom_model_uri
# Generate with your trained model
response = requests.post(

Questions

Have more questions?

How many images do I need to train a model?+
The self-serve tool supports 15 to 100 images. For larger datasets, talk to our sales team about Enterprise training. The number of images matters: complex concepts and styles often need many more than 15. That said, quality matters more than quantity. 40 exceptional images with descriptive captions will consistently outperform a larger set of mediocre ones.
What can I train a model on?+
Products, characters, mascots, illustration styles, brand aesthetics, photography styles. If it has a consistent visual identity that can be shown across images, it can be trained. Because Ideogram handles text better than other models, campaigns with custom typography or graphic design with a specific lettering style are worth trying too.
What if my model can't generate certain scenes?+
If the training set is overly constrained, the model will often overfit to that concept. For some use cases, like optical illusions or a specific character, that's a feature, not a bug. That said, if you want the model to handle certain scenes or compositions, make sure they're represented in your training data. The model can only reproduce what it's seen.
Can I combine a custom model with other Ideogram features?+
Yes. Custom Model combined with Style Reference and Color Palette gives you layered brand control that no single feature achieves on its own.
Is my training data used to improve Ideogram's base models?+
On Pro and Team plans, your data may be used to evaluate and improve Ideogram's foundation models. On the Enterprise plan, we guarantee your data and custom models will not be used for AI training or shared with anyone outside your organization.
Can I share a custom model with my team?+
On Team plans, members can choose to share their trained models with the rest of the organization. On Pro and Team plans, you can also share models publicly with the broader Ideogram community. On Team plans, generated images can be shared through shared collections.
Can I train a model on my brand's custom font or logo?+
Enterprise custom models support layered brand controls including custom typography and exact logo placement as layerized text and SVG. You also get access to our research, engineering, and annotation teams for white-glove setup, training on larger datasets with custom captioning pipelines, and unlimited training runs. Your data and model are never used to train our foundation models. Learn more about Enterprise features here or talk to our sales team.
How does Enterprise differ from self-serve?+
Enterprise includes on-site visits, embedding with design teams, PLM and DAM integration, vendor material digitization, and ongoing iteration with Ideogram's team. Built for brands generating at significant scale.
How can I use Custom Models?+
Custom Branded Models are available on Pro and Team plans and via the API. For advanced customization, talk to our sales team about Enterprise.
