Announcing Ideogram AI
August 22, 2023 Today, we are excited to announce the formation of Ideogram AI. Our mission is to help people become more creative through generative AI. We are developing state-of-the-art AI tools that will make creative expression more accessible, fun, and efficient. We are pushing the limits of what’s possible with AI, with a focus on creativity and a high standard for trust and safety.

Team
Our founding team consists of world-renowned AI experts, who have previously led transformative AI projects at Google Brain, UC Berkeley, CMU, and the University of Toronto. Our fundamental work in AI includes: Denoising Diffusion Models, Imagen: Google’s text-to-image system, Imagen Video for video synthesis, WaveGrad for speech synthesis, neural speech recognition, neural machine translation, contrastive learning for learning visual representations, and generative adversarial imitation learning.
Funding
We have raised a total of $16.5 million in seed financing led by a16z and Index Ventures. Several other investors participated in the round, including AIX Ventures, Golden Ventures, Two Small Fish Ventures, and industry experts Ryan Dahl, Anjney Midha, Raquel Urtasun, Jeff Dean, Sarah Guo, Pieter Abbeel, Mahyar Salek, Soleio, Tom Preston-Werner, Andrej Karpathy.
